Melissa Weinblatt Bill Hawkins The Port Orford Rotary Scholarship
Foundation
The first fund established was the Port Orford Scholarship Fund to provide a permanent base from which interest could be taken each year to provide scholarships to post high school students. In addition, Rotarians have raised monies to give in scholarships each year starting with $500 the first year to $10,000 in 2006. High School Seniors at Pacific High School or home school senior level students living in the 2CJ School District area can obtain the applications from the Pacific High School counselor or online via the Port Orford-Langlois school district website. The selection is made by the Port Orford Rotary Scholarship committee and each application is reviewed in the following areas: need, activities, community service and leadership. These scholarships may be used for academic or professional/technical education at any accredited post-high school educational institution. Payment is made directly to the institution upon verification of enrollment. The levels of giving are Perpetual Named Scholarships ($15,000 or more), Rotary Benefactor ($5000 or more), and Rotary Fellow ($1000 or more). All gifts are tax deductible. Donors are recognized by name on a prominent plaque displayed at Pacific High School and with receipt of a handsome crystal stone pin. In addition donors may participate in the scholarship fund by remembering Port Orford Rotary Scholarship Foundation in their will. Perpetual Named
