The Foundation was created in 1917 by Rotary International's sixth president, Arch C. Klumph, as an endowment fund for Rotary "to do good in the world." It has grown from an initial contribution of US$26.50 to more than US$117.9 million contributed in 2004-05. Its event-filled history is a story of Rotarians learning the value of service to humanity. 

The Foundation's Humanitarian Programs fund international Rotary club and district projects to improve the quality of life, providing health care, clean water, food, education, and other essential needs primarily in the developing world. One of the major Humanitarian Programs is PolioPlus, which seeks to eradicate the poliovirus worldwide. Through its Educational Programs, the Foundation provides funding for some 1,200 students to study abroad each year. Grants are also awarded to university teachers to teach in developing countries and for exchanges of business and professional people. Former participants in the Foundation's programs have the opportunity to continue their affiliation with Rotary as Foundation Alumni.

Donate online to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.  Donations are for the Annual Fund and earn credit toward your Paul Harris Fellowship. Print a copy of the confirmation and give it to club TRF Chair Ronn Kerr so we know how well we are doing.

You will need the district number (5110), our club number (359) and your membership number (available in the “Members Only” section under your photo) plus your credit card information.  If you have not logged in to your personal account on the Rotary International site before, you will provide the information and be sent a password for log in within 24 hours.

Rotary International Credit Cards can be used to support The Rotary Foundation.  Our club receives $25 when you sign up, and a portion of each charge is donated to the Foundarion.

District Ambassadorial Scholar

Heather Hutnanen, sponsored by the Eugene Downtown club, is atending a Masters program at the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, The Netherlands.  She will graduate in early 2010.

Group Study Exchange

International vocational exchanges between Rotary Districts. In 2008, a GSE team from Argentina visited our club - President Bill Hawkins is presenting team leader Ozvaldo Gonzalez with the club banner.
