The Port Orford Rotary Club has chosen the American Legion Hall as its project to commemorate 100 years of Rotary.  The owner of the builidng, the city of Port Orford, has enthusiastically approved the project.  The building has been assessed by club member and contractor Ken Brewer as being structurally sound, although there is a lot of work that needs to be done.

June 2, 2004

Initial work begins.  The club authorized the Centennial Project Committee to proceed with Phase I - leveling of the floor under the building, re-siding the structure, and replacing appliances in the kitchen.  Budget expenditures total about $12,000 (including a $3000 grant from Rotary District 5110).



July 8, 2004

Floor has been leveled.  Next step is siding replacement.  Port Orford Rotarian Bob Hale has donated $1000 for replacement of all windows in the building.
